What We Believe
Everyone is searching for truth, peace, and purpose. We believe that truth is found in God and revealed through His Word, the Bible. At the center of the Bible is the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. This good news changes lives, restores hope, and brings us into a relationship with God.
Here’s a simple summary of what we believe:
The Bible
The Bible is God’s message to us, 66 books in the Old and New Testaments. It is completely true and trustworthy, showing us who God is, how He rescues us, and how He wants us to live. God’s Word never changes and is our ultimate guide for life and faith.
God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
There is one God who has always existed. He created everything and is perfect in love, power, and wisdom. He exists as three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, working together in perfect unity.
- The Father lovingly rules over all creation and desires a personal relationship with us.
- Jesus, the Son, became fully human while remaining fully God. He lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again to give us new life. He now reigns in heaven and will return as King and Judge.
- The Holy Spirit helps us see our need for Jesus, gives us new life when we believe, and lives within us to guide, comfort, and empower us to live in God’s ways.
People and Sin
God made people in His image to know and enjoy Him. But humanity chose to disobey, bringing sin and separation from God. Because of this, every person falls short and cannot fix the problem on their own. Even so, every person has great value and worth. And through Jesus, God offers forgiveness, hope, and the chance to become the people He created us to be.
Salvation
Salvation is God’s gift to us. We cannot earn it through good works, religion, or morality. Jesus took our place on the cross, paying the penalty for our sin. When we put our trust in Him, we are forgiven, made right with God, and given new life by the Holy Spirit.
Confidence in Salvation
Those who belong to Jesus can be sure of their salvation. God promises to keep His children secure forever. While He lovingly corrects us when we stray, He will never abandon us, and nothing can separate us from His love.
The Church
The church is not a building but a family of people who follow Jesus. Together, we worship, learn, serve, and share God’s love. Jesus is the head of the church, and we are called to love one another and carry His message from our neighborhoods to the nations.
Our Mission
Jesus gave His followers a mission: to share the good news with the world. We do this by showing His love, helping others know Him, baptizing new believers, and teaching them to follow His ways.
Jesus’ Return
One day Jesus will return to make all things right. Everyone will be raised from the dead and judged. Those who trust in Him will live forever with God in a new heaven and earth. Those who reject Him will remain separated from God. Because of this, we share the gospel with hope and urgency.
Singleness, Marriage, and Family
God created both singleness and marriage as good gifts.
- Singleness is a calling that allows people to focus fully on God and serving others, as seen in the lives of Jesus and the Apostle Paul.
- Marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting the love of Christ for His church. It is meant to be a place of lifelong love, faithfulness, and partnership.
- Family is God’s design for raising children in love and truth. Parents are called to teach and guide their children, and children are called to honor and obey their parents.
Sexuality and Human Dignity
Every person is made in God’s image and deserves love, respect, and dignity. We all struggle with sin, including in the area of sexuality. God created us male and female, giving us identity and purpose. He designed sexual intimacy for marriage between one man and one woman. Any sexual activity outside of this is not part of His design. But God offers forgiveness, healing, and new life to anyone who turns to Him, no matter their past.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Jesus gave us two special practices to remind us of His love and our commitment to Him:
- Baptism is a public declaration that we have left behind our old life and begun a new life with Christ.
- The Lord’s Supper (communion) is a way to remember Jesus’ sacrifice, celebrate our unity as His people, and look forward to His return.
