Getting Started with The Word One to One
Exploring what the Bible says about Jesus with a friend is one of the most exciting adventures you’ll ever take. And the best part? You don’t have to do it alone—God’s Word does the work. Here’s a simple guide to help you begin.
1. Prepare
Get the Resources

Pray
Ask God for confidence to invite someone and for the Spirit to guide your time together.
Invite
Be yourself and keep it simple. If your friend says yes, set a time and place to meet.
Get Ready
Read through the episode in advance and pray for God to speak through His Word.
2. Share
At the Start
Catch up, then gently shift to The Word One to One. It’s normal if you both feel a little nervous. Remember: God speaks through His Word—it’s not about your ability.
During
Your friend simply reads the verses (out loud or quietly), while you use the notes to guide the conversation. You’ll quickly find a rhythm of reading and chatting verse by verse.
At the End
Ask something like: “Did you enjoy that? Would you like to see what happens next?”
3. Follow Up
If They Want to Continue
Pick the next time and place, pray for them, and prepare for the next episode—going at a pace that works for you both.
If They Want to Pause
Don’t be discouraged. Thank God for what you’ve shared and keep praying for Him to work in their heart.
4. Keep Going—Together
Reading the Bible with others is a joy you can experience for a lifetime! Invite others to walk alongside you:
-They can pray for courage, opportunities, and perseverance.
-You can encourage one another with stories of God at work.
-They can help you be wise in who you read with and guide friends toward a local church as interest grows.
